Albuquerque Public Schools announced the four-year graduation rate for the Class of 2021 was 75.7%, an increase of one percentage point from last year and up 14 percentage points in seven years.
It is the sixth straight year the APS graduation rate has increased. When excluding charter schools, the graduation rate was 80.3% in 2021.
For the second straight year, Volcano Vista has a graduation rate of 84.5%. That rate is the fourth-best in APS behind La Cueva (93.8%), Eldorado (87.1%) and Cibola (86%).
“We focus on the whole student, their social-emotional well-being — especially coming back from COVID, so I think the staff has really taken each student at their own pace and really reached out and made sure that they were receiving the support they needed to be successful,” Volcano Vista principal Melissa Sedillo said in an APS release.
