Cody Moon, a Volcano Vista High School alum and linebacker for the University of New Mexico, announced this week that he is entering the transfer portal and will leave the UNM program.
Moon, a former walk-on, led the Lobos in tackles in 2022 and was named a second-team All-Mountain West Conference linebacker.
Moon entered the UNM program in 2020, redshirted that year and has three years of eligibility remaining.
He was UNM’s nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy this year, which is annually awarded to a former walk-on who had the most outstanding season. Moon also was UNM’s Burlsworth nominee in 2021.
Moon had 105 tackles for the Lobos in 2022.
